- This is the first attempt to provide an in-depth study the tip leakage flow aerodynamic behaviour over a realistic model of turbine blade tip. It presents valuable results (in particular the Schlieren results for realistic model) for the first time in literature. It shows realistic model significantly changes the estimation leakage flows losses which will change the efficiency and fuel-burn estimation and its impact on economic and environment. It has potential to change the research approach with aid of increasing accuracy level. Experimental models were funded by Rolls-Royce, who is interested in the next part, a PhD project has started.
