- The submission consists of Hill's single-authored article 'Perfect experiential constructions', his contribution to the co-authored introduction 'The contribution of Tibetan languages to the study of evidentiality', and his editorial contribution to volume overall, including his translation from Japanese into English of the previously published article of Yukawa Yasutoshi.
Seeing that the typological study of evidential systems accounted insufficiently for the phenomena seen in Tibetan languages. Hill and Gawne designed the volume together. They co-hosted a panel of the South East Asian Linguistics Society (Rangoon, 2014) to stimulate interest among potential contributors, selected and invited the contributors to secure the coverage of topics that they foresaw.
Each paper was edited multiple times (as high as 20) by the two editors in turn. This process ensured that the contributions were in active dialogue with one another and together constituted a coherent whole.
Although carefully reviewed by Gawne, the co-authored introduction is entirely Hill's work. Gawne is credited as co-author, since it would have been odd not to do so.
