- Contemporary Publishing and the Culture of Books is a collection of 15 essays by a group of international scholars that bridges the traditional focus and methodologies of literary studies and practices contemporary literary production to address professional writing and the practicalities of the publishing industry and its relationship to print and digital media. Focusing on the relationship between changing forms of modern literature and the emerging conditions for the publishing industry, the volume critically examines cultural, creative and economic contexts. Baverstock’s contribution includes the role of principal editors, leading the process of commissioning and organising chapters; an introduction to the volume; an individual chapter, ‘How Can Shared Reading Create a Community?’
