- The paper introduces a novel algorithm used by an Intrusion Detection System (IDS) to detect attacks targeting Routing Protocol for Low power and Lossy network (RPL) topologies. The paper and algorithm are significant because simulation results show that our proposed algorithm has a high accuracy rate in detecting RPL topology attacks, while only creating insignificant overhead (about 6.3%) that enable its scalability in large-scale network. The new algorithm has been deployed in a number of state-of-art IDSs for IOTs and WSNs applications.
