- This book investigates whether politics in Britain in the twenty-first century is driven more by issues of culture and identity than by “left versus right” economic issues. It analyses original data from a Voter Advice Application which the author helped to produce. This was administered before the 2017 UK general election, generating 60,000 responses. The analysis of this data and secondary datasets show a transformation in party competition in the UK, highlighting factors that have become more salient in how parties attract voters. The conclusions note the significance and effects of changing forms of political communication between voters and politicians.
