- The novel device described in the paper treats early-onset scoliosis (affecting 1.1M children worldwide) and offers significant potential benefits for patients, surgeons and health services, viz: a minimally invasive lengthen procedure (reducing risk, infections, and scaring), c.50% lower cost compared to competitors and protection from dynamic failures against c.72% current failure rate. Its development was supported by the EU (ESR604935), S14-Implants, France (Now Cousin-Biotech, Stéphane NOEL, Director of Research and Development) and Consultant Surgeons from the Rizzoli Orthopaedic Institute, Italy (Contact: Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon).
