- This two-volume edition presents the work of Hywel Dafi, arguably one of the fifteenth century’s most important poets. It is a substantial piece of work, made possible by a fellowship from the British Academy (vol. 1: xvii + 368 pages; vol. 2: viii + 414 pages). It includes an introduction, an edition of 109 poems (over 6,100 lines), 6 other poems of uncertain authorship, as well as detailed notes on the period’s persons and objects, vocabulary and the poet’s use of cynghanedd. In editing the 782 pages of verse, the author consulted over 230 different manuscripts.
