- Pilot contamination has been a disturbance in cellular mobile communications due to a limited number of orthogonal pilots. It is of importance to suppress pilot contamination as much as possible. This paper was the first to propose the simple H-infinity (H-inf) channel estimation approach to suppress the pilot contamination for multiple-user-multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) systems. It was a significant advancement and innovation with respect to other approaches. This work led to a ‘China Government Overseas Scholarship’ for a one-year visit to the University of Kent (Xu Peng, 8/2014 - 7/2015).
