- This edition is a full critical text of all the known writings of Edward Rushton, a working-class Liverpool abolitionist, reformist and campaigner, many of which are presented here for the first time in 200 years. Some appear here for the first time, from manuscript, and some are attributed to Rushton for the first time. The edition is based on the radical principle of using first publication as copytext followed by full historical collation based on scrutiny of all surviving witnesses in archives across the globe. There is full contextual commentary and an introduction based on extended archival research.
