- This 140,000 word monograph explores the complex interplay between the Labour Party and the Free Churches in the early twentieth century. In the process, it draws upon political, social, economic, cultural, intellectual and ecclesiastical history, as well as work in the disciplines of sociology and public policy. The book is the result of many years of research and reflection on the relationship between religion and politics - of which this is a case study - and draws on extensive research from a wide range of (often obscure, local and ephemeral) printed sources as well as 14 archival collections.
