- This 350-page monograph provides a theory-led rethinking of the Neopalatial period or ‘Golden Age’ of Minoan Crete, which is one of the most extensively explored archaeological areas in the world. It covers an extensive, diverse and complex range of material from detailed site analyses to depictions of the human form, enabling fresh insights into the role of Knossos and ritual in the island’s socio-political dynamics. This work is the product of over a decade of research, with a bibliography of 56 pages that reflects engagements with fields well beyond Bronze Age Aegean studies
