- Double-weighted statement
- This is the first book-length study of the relationship between science fiction, techno-scientific policies, and the international non-aligned movement. It examines the writings of the first generation of Indian science fiction writers, their entanglements with scientific and technological policies of independent India, and their relationship to the strategy of non-alignment pursued by India’s first prime minister, Jawaharlal Nehru. The book has been described as ‘path-breaking’ by leading scholars in the field like Eric D. Smith, because of its ‘much-needed contribution to postcolonial studies, science fiction studies, world literature studies, and cultural studies.’
