- This transformative paper was the first to demonstrate a truly polarisation insensitive FOPA. Moreover very wide bandwidth with high gain was shown. The configuration pioneered here has been further developed and is the key building block for the new EPSRC project FOPA ROCS https://gow.epsrc.ukri.org/NGBOViewGrant.aspx?GrantRef=EP/R024057/1, (value £717,568). The concept is the key concept which has led to a new project funded by Huawei (value for this part >£200k) to investigate applying these ideas to phase sensitive amplifiers (this experiment shows a phase insensitive fibre (SOW2 of HOSP).
