- The first extended study of how Robert Grosseteste’s scholarship, especially his theory of pastoral obligation, influenced his practice in the Diocese of Lincoln and disrupted established networks and practices, this book is 117,000 words in length and draws on eight years of research in national and local archives in the UK and Italy, together with 113 published primary texts and an extensive secondary literature in English, French, German and Spanish.
