- The key aspect that differentiates the Load Modulated Balanced Amplifier from other efficiency-enhancing RFPA architectures (e.g. the Doherty PA) is its increased frequency bandwidth, which allows critical energy-saving in a wide range of radar and communication systems. The paper received the 2018 IEEE Tatsuo Itoh Award (https://mtt.org/tatsuo-itoh-award), for the “most important published contribution for the prior year” and has led to industrialisation of new components for future military EW systems, funded by Leonardo MW Ltd, value to date £150K (ongoing), and two patent applications (GB1817747.7, 31/10/2018; GB1500239.7, 08/01/2015).
