- Double-weighted statement
- The output brings together two narratives: the academic literature on security with the corporeal and musical discourse of capoeira. Combining these involves an extensive exploration of each, including the presentation of a large body of primary research on the movements, lyrics and interactions in the game of capoeira and an exploration of the duality between the game and life. The data was collected through emic methods, requiring an extended physical and musical training. The presentation of this data frames a discussion on critical security and the forms of power expressed through culture and creativity in resisting biopolitical control and surveillance.
