- The designed system applies stimulation to a patient’s brain on demand, when it is needed. Novel predictive techniques were described in the paper, based on an analysis of local field potentials measured in the sub-thalamic nucleus. This research involved collaboration with the Technical University of Madrid, the University of Oxford and John Radcliffe Hospital (Oxford). Actual deep brain (electrical) patient data was used from John Radcliffe patients following surgery. As a result, this technique is now assisting surgeons in their treatment of patients.
