- Research is currently conducted using simulation tools, so that the links between various parameters are hidden and difficult to establish from the results. This work derives analytical expressions that enable simple evaluation of the total harmonic distortion of a phase voltage in multiphase two-level and three-level PWM inverters with a sinusoidal reference. Analytical expressions are verified by comprehensive simulation and experimental results, thus establishing a theoretical benchmark for the new modulation scheme developments. The work led to an invited fully-funded keynote at the International Conference on Modelling and Simulation of Electric Machines, Converters and Systems, Valencia, Spain 2014 (http://www.electrimacs2014.upv.es/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/Electrimacs_Program_web_2014.pdf).
