- This substantial volume (736 pages) is published in a prestigious and authoritative series of editions of ancient Greek and medieval Arabic medical texts (CMG). It offers the first critical edition of this key work, produced by the translator-physician Ḥunayn ibn Isḥāq (d. ca. 870). The edition, based on all extant Arabic textual witnesses, including the Arabic secondary transmission, fills a significant gap in the history of ancient Greek and medieval Arabic medicine. It comes with an extensive introduction, notes and comprehensive indices of text and translation.
