- This paper reported experimental findings of a KTP project (No. 010269) namely a comparison of microstructure and mechanical properties of low-alloy-medium-carbon steels after quench-hardening. Ultimately this contributed to optimising the strengthening heat treatments of wear-resistant steels for a metal-processing application. The outputs of the projects included significantly increased lifetime of large metal-cutting blade (> 2 times) and three research papers. The research has attracted overseas research collaborations of three Chinese universities (Henan University of S&T, Guangdong University of Technology, and Lanzhou University of Technology) and a large Chinese manufacturing enterprise (China Railway High-Tech).
