- A step forward in IoT/remote sensing is facilitated by the invention of the first dual-mode (analogue & digital), integrated (ASIC) LIA compatible with low-cost microcontrollers (0-to-MHz range). Advanced low-voltage, low-power design techniques are combined in a new way to enable LIA’s miniaturisation and improved performance. A smart, gas sensing system was used for LIA’s validation, which exhibited almost identical signal recovery performance to that of a thousand-dollar, large-scale commercial counterpart. Biotechnological (Zeulab, Inycom) and semiconductor (Analog Devices) companies have indicated interest, also leading to 2 PhD studentships and a 85K€, R&D&I project by Spain’s Ministry of Science and Innovation (PID2019-106570RB-I00).
