- This book tackles a theme that has not been historicized before, spanning the period from the late 18th century to the present. It thus required engagement with an extensive body of research from various fields and disciplines. I consulted materials from archives and libraries in Israel, USA, Germany, Britain, and France, and analyzed a wide range of primary sources—pamphlets, books, newspapers, conference protocols, trial proceedings, private correspondence--in five languages. The book is ca. 110,000 words long, and is the result of six years of work including my doctoral thesis.
