- Double-weighted statement
- This book represents research conducted over a period of several years. Substantial parts of the field research have been conducted in a challenging context, i.e. the urban slums of Dhaka and poor rural areas in Bangladesh. Although the author acquired basic knowledge of Bengali, some interviews needed to be translated. Additional data was gathered at the International Labour Organization in Geneva (Switzerland) and at the South Asia Archives at Cornell University (USA). The amount and richness of data required substantial time for analysis and evaluation, also to develop a theoretical framework for studying local human rights implementation in other contexts.
