- Double-weighted statement
- This is the first monograph examining attitudes to musical authorship as revealed in the production, performance and reception of music in 17th-century German lands. Researched over a period of 15 years, it shows sustained effort in its collection and analysis of a considerable body of primary sources, from 17 libraries and archives across Europe, including manuscripts that are difficult to access because of conservation restrictions and the high level of palaeographic skill required to transcribe their contents. The theme of authorship is investigated in depth from different perspectives including theological study, book history, legal history, economic history, and performance studies.
