- This granted patent underpins a later publication in Energy EnvironSci (DOI: 10.1039/C8EE02499E) demonstrating for the first a viable fabrication and use of Manganese Hydrides (as well as others) molecular sieves for reversibly and safely absorbing/releasing hydrogen at high densities without worrying thermal issues. Remarkably 2-12% of molecular hydrogen is absorbed based upon a 100% total weight of the metal hydride–enabling a 5 times reduction in cost and safely for the first time allowing long haul transport and significant heating applications of hydrogen. Hydro-Quebec Research Institute are keenly seeking a commercialisation license.
