- Double-weighted statement
- Research was carried out over six years between three authors as equal contributors. The authors met in person regularly during the design, writing, and final layout of the book to ensure consistency and usability for a range of readers, primarily, students. The volume involved reviewing the state of research in archaeology, and applications within Egypt. Of great value are the ‘boxes’ which constitute case studies by specialists in the field in Egypt; they illustrate the application of methods relevant to the themes addressed. Each author contacted specialists individually to discuss the contents of the boxes, adding to the time input.

- Additional information
- The book was jointly planned and written by the three main authors who contributed evenly to the introduction (10 pages) and the concluding chapter (20 pages). The book is both co-authored and co-edited, as a number of specialists were invited to contribute case study boxes (this was also done jointly). The central chapters, 2, 3 and 4 have each been written (and case study contributors invited) by one of the main co-authors/co-editors. Joanne Rowland's chapter is ‘The Biography of Time and Space (114 pages, with nine case study boxes: 85 pages out of the 114 are single-authored by Rowland, 29 pages co-written with K. Strutt, U of Southampton).
