- The article presented the user-centred design and the results of the experimental evaluation in realistic environments of near future multi-robot services for older people’s independent living. The interdisciplinary research team has received funding from the European Union Seventh Framework Programme (FP7/2007-2013) under grant agreement 288899 (Robot-ERA, €8.5m, http://www.robot-era.eu/). This was the first time that innovative robotic services were designed and realistically experimented with more than 100 potential users. The work influenced follow-up collaboration that led to the MSCA-ITN PERSEO (2021-24), funded by EU (€4m), that involves SHU and the Robot-ERA coordinator (SSSA, Italy) as beneficiaries.
