- This longer-form output draws from the findings of three external research grants and provides a critical synthesis of difficult to access primary and secondary Russian-language sources. The data collection involved extended periods working in libraries, archives and specialist collections in the UK, EU and Russian Federation over a period of several years. Drawing from these varied data sources, the book provides insight into the historical roots of Russian environmental thought by tracing key intellectual trends concerning understanding of the biophysical environment from the late tsarist period through to the late Soviet period.
