- This research (EPSRC 1239140) was the first published comprehensive, validated set of 68 criteria evaluating nanoproduct sustainability. It was further developed through collaboration with EC Joint Research Centre (Ispra) delivering a weighting set for life cycle impact assessment categories in the EC Policy Development Programme Environmental Footprint (PEF) Policy (http://ec.europa.eu/environment/eussd/smgp/policy_footprint.htm). It was cited in EPSRC’s Circular Economy positional paper to UK government (2015), led to a Marie Curie Global Fellowship (Cinelli “SAbDA” (Proposal 743553) 2018), new collaborations/publications with US Sustainable Nanotechnology Organization and Environmental Protection Agency, and follow-on funding from HVM Catapult (focussing on battery applications) and EPSRC (CENTS EP/S036237/1).
