- Raspberry ketone methyl ether (4-(4-Methoxyphenyl)butan-2-one) is an important fine chemical and is used extensively in several consumer products, commercially it is prepared by Friedel–Crafts alkylation which produces many side and waste products. This work is significant because it uses a novel telescope flow reactor setup, which decreases the overall cost of the process by improving the yield and lowering the amount of catalyst. 1 Student used this work in support of their PhD. This work was part of grants EP/J017868/1 and EP/J017833/1.
