- The book (Routledge, 2018; pp.1-246) represents twenty years of research into modernist Nordic architecture. The primary focus is upon Jørn Utzon, scrutinised from a phenomenological perspective. Utzon never articulated a theoretical position, making interrogation challenging. Through six chapters, the book proposes a paradigmatic framework comprising three distinct but related elements; Arche (Ideas), Techne (Making) and Poetic Conjunction (the immeasurable). The methodology was extended chronologically both backwards and forwards to examine two other Nordic architects - Aalto and Fehn - to provide a unique perspective on this Nordic heritage.
