- Double-weighted statement
- The work is a multi-authored book (23 chapters, 21 contributors) that represents four years' sustained research effort in researching, writing, and editing. This process involved selecting and working with international contributors from both ancient history, papyrology and law. Several contributions were also translated from the authors’ languages into English in order to provide the only English-language volume that includes detailed studies of primary materials from the entire span of the Roman empire. The range of the evidence, variety of contributors and the scale of the conceptualization, organization and editing of the book thus justifies the request for double-weighting.
