- This book offers a new theoretical perspective on music sociology. Its different chapters explore the ramifications of that perspective across a wide range of key issues both within the specialism and within sociology more widely (e.g. the economics of music, identity and taste). In addition, several chapters break new ground by discussing new and/or underdeveloped themes (e.g. ‘the mainstream’ and musical networks). The book is the culmination of many years of reflection and debate, and draws upon a number of research projects conducted by the author.
