- The book is the product of 6 years of doctoral and postdoctoral research, with work in archives in the UK, Belgium, and France. It studies a wide range of diverse sources: personal correspondence, religious tracts, official documents of state and church, in English, French, Dutch, and Latin. This wide range of sources and the application of themes of exile and migration make Confessional Mobility the first treatment of English Catholicism through scholarship in French and German. The book pioneers conversations about global Catholicism, offering a new conceptual framework that allows understanding of Catholicism at the heart of early modern history.
