- Significantly this was the first paper to investigate resource-task allocation from the angle of service providers' profit. Algorithmically, it extends the standard Lyapunov technique to support job variable length (realistic) requests. The solution enables dynamic pricing, providing a mechanism for "mobile" cloud providers comparable to that for traditional cloud providers e.g. Amazon. As a practical solution to mobile cloud and communications it was welcomed by industry, directly influenced funded research projects e.g. EPSRC NIRVANA and EU FP7 MONICA (~GBP 3M) and enabled further work to tackle the really challenging problems of managing supply and demand in such services.
