- The book is 80,000 words long and the culmination of five years of research and writing that included two sabbatical terms. Consisting of an Introduction and nine chapters on Chabrol’s last films, the book develops a complex critical and historical framework for an understanding of the director’s work and provides an extended, in-depth analysis of the individual films. These pull together a range of material and arguments that provide new perspectives on the films and the literature on French cinema more generally.
