- Double-weighted statement
- This is a full-length research monograph based on four years of doctoral research, substantially revised and edited over a further four-year period. The dissertation on which the book is based was awarded Best Doctoral Research Thesis 2015/16 at the University of Bristol, and the Luxembourg National Research Council’s Award for Outstanding PhD thesis in 2017. It draws on significant remote area archaeological, ethnographic and historical research in Paraguay and the US, and the analysis of primary and secondary material, visual and written sources in Spanish, French, German and English, as well as interviews conducted in these languages.
