- Double-weighted statement
- The result of nine years of work, this monograph analyses six case studies (from 1839 to 2010) covering different modalities of photographic and sculptural activity, from commercial to artistic. It required repeated visits to 22 archives, collections, artists’ studios, workshops and foundries in Britain, France, Italy, and the USA; and analysis of a wide range of primary and secondary sources relevant to the material, social and discursive conditions of each different – geographically and temporally – case study.
