- This fundamental study presents a semi-analytical method for the wave propagation analysis as a Structural Health Monitoring tool. This is the first paper to present a robust benchmark solution for the study of the wave propagation in laminated composite 3D plates, using the laywerwise displacement distribution through the thickness and analytical analysis on the plane. This approach provided a breakthrough on the theoretical interpretation of the wave propagation which was followed up by other researchers to study the damped problem (e.g. Hanfei Mei, Victor Guirgiutiu, Guided wave excitation and propagation in damped composites plates, 2019).
