- The work reported in this paper was a key part of the motivation for the foundation of Unikernel Systems Limited, a spin-out company that was immediately acquired by Docker Inc. for an undisclosed sum, announced in January 2016 (https://www.mosaicventures.com/mosaicblog/2018/6/13/the-story-of-our-investment-in-docker-via-unikernel-systems-and-why-enterprises-are-running-their-business-on-their-commercial-platform). The technology that was the subject of that acquisition eventually became the basis for the Docker for Mac and Docker for Windows products, in active daily use by millions of developers today.
