- This 293-page book, the product of an AHRC Large Grant (2011 - 2014), offers the first analysis of complex and interrelated reforms since 2005 relating to the governance, leadership, funding and selection of judges. It draws on: documentary analysis of publicly available sources; data from 150+ interviews with judges, politicians and officials; and 12 private seminars with informants. The 4-year period of data collection was necessary to capture a diverse range of perspectives during a period of statutory, institutional and personnel change for the UK’s domestic judiciaries, including the UK Supreme Court and the Scottish and Northern Irish judiciaries.
