- This paper introduces and solves a real-world scheduling problem for maintenance scheduling in the Danish rail network. This was an international collaboration with researchers from Technical University of Denmark (DTU) and Banedanmark (lsej@bane.dk). The results of this work demonstrated improved performance on the current practice, increasing the scheduling period that optimal solutions can be obtained for from 2 weeks to 8 weeks. The proposed system is currently being piloted for full implementation. This work forms the basis of a ERC starting grant proposal for further research by the lead author.
