- The paper proposes a new analytical solution to calculating cable temperatures in the J-tubes used on offshore platforms, which often limit overall HV cable performance. The work has been adopted by Carbon Trust Offshore Wind Accelerator Best Practice Guidance (confidential to funder), and elements are being proposed for inclusion in a new International Electrotechnical Commission standard. Dr Pilgrim has also been contracted to deliver a version of the method to CYME for implementation in their CYMCAP software, used by cable engineers worldwide.
