- A Synthesis of Time is the culmination of ten years' work and the first anthropological monograph on the practice of Islamic microfinance. The research the book draws upon was conducted with a grant from the Economic and Social Research Council (RES-062-23-2639) while the writing of the book was completed during a British Academy Mid-Career Fellowship. The book is based on more than 400,000 words of documents consisting of field observations and interviews with more than one hundred individuals as well as archival materials and legal records, collected at various times from 2011 to 2018.
