- Double-weighted statement
- The historical argument built up in this book covers some fifty years’ worth of primary and secondary sources in French film production. It was necessary to develop the research on this scale in order to demonstrate the nature and extent of the pervasive influence attributed to the French New Wave: the accumulation of evidence is essential to the proof envisaged and could not have been undertaken in a single article or chapter. The combination of comparative historical research with close textual demonstration is central to the book’s methodology and required significant scope in order to be successfully realised.
