- This collaboration with ITM Power Plc, Teer Coatings Ltd, and Boddingtons Plastics developed a zero gap alkaline water electrolyser for hydrogen production. The work demonstrated a more efficient and lower cost non-precious metal catalyst for hydrogen evolution in water electrolysers. ITM Power received a £0.5m grant from the Department of Energy & Climate Change to scale up this low-cost alkaline electrolyser stack for Power-to-Gas energy storage. A patent was filed with Teer Coatings Ltd (WO2013124647 A2) based on this work and they are now scaling up from a prototype to a new product.
