- Empire of Democracy is a research monograph of 359,000 words published in separate editions in the US and UK, with a Dutch translation in progress. Research was undertaken between 2011 and 2016 on primary and secondary empirical materials from state, non-state, cultural and economic organisations, personal and biographical materials and official archives. This is combined with substantial contextual and theoretical reading across history, political economy, political science, international relations, sociology and law.
