- A collaboration output with CEFAS (Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science) is a significant advance in detection of potent cyanotoxins, in water, shellfish and health food supplements ensuring these products are safe for human consumption (Dr Andrew Turner andrew.turner@cefas.co.uk). The new method developed allows fast analysis (only 5 minutes) of 13 toxins without the need for sample pre-treatment. The provision of this protocol is facilitating rapid analysis supporting expansion of monitoring programmes to meet World Health Organisation (WHO) recently extended guidelines to ensure public health and resulted in a new award from BBSRC/NERC (£1.2 million) Joint Call in Aquaculture.
