- Understanding how life on Earth started is one the fundamental questions for science. However, it is extremely challenging to investigate the myriad hypothesis as no experimental settings could match the physical conditions of 4000 million years ago. This article reported a unique approach for studying the origin of life from inorganic precursors using microengineering, physics and chemistry. It provides a better understanding of the mechanisms that could have sparked life on Earth.
