- This paper studied the load capacity of structural members with the application of alternative analysis techniques. The paper followed one published previously at an international conference, with the addition of expert analytical analysis from Lodz University in Poland. Further analyses showed the highly significant influence of a variety of factors affecting the structural behaviour of thin-walled steel box girders. Analyses showed that upper- and lower-bound load capacity estimations are greatly influenced by the yield stress of the girder material, whereas the tolerance on the dimension of the wall thickness of the girder influenced only the upper-bound load capacity.
